GOP's wild week. Donald Trump's dark message. Roger Ailes' swift downfall. It's Friday, and here are the 5 things you need to know to Get Up to Speed and Out the Door:
Trump marched into the arena last night with a dark message: The U.S. is in a sorry state. He listed problems ailing the nation, including unemployment, rising murder rates, police killings and terrorism. But fear not. He will save America from all that once elected. "The crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end ... beginning on January 20th 2017," he said. During his 75-minute speech, he issued grim statistics on immigration, Hillary Clinton's legacy and the economy, among others. He said his convention will not tolerate lies, so we fact-checked his numbers.
