Greece holds a snap election
Voters go to the polls today, four months early, to pick a new parliament. The election follows a dramatic loss by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' party in European parliamentary elections. Tsipras called the snap election to avert a brutal campaign that could have undone economic gains since the nation's historic bailout.

North Carolina runoff
There's a runoff election Tuesday in North Carolina's Third Congressional District. It's a Republican primary runoff between surgeon Greg Murphy and Joan Perry, who is also a doctor. The winner will face Democrat Allen Thomas in the general election on September 10. This special election was triggered after Republican Rep. Walter Jones died in office in February at age 76. He had represented the state in Congress since 1995.

Fed chair speaks
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will appear before the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday to deliver his semiannual testimony on the state of the US economy. Powell has been criticized by President Trump, who is unhappy with the Fed chair for not cutting interest rates. But Powell said the Fed's decisions won't be affected by "short-term political interests."

Mueller on stage
A marathon reading of the Mueller report will take place Thursday at Arena Stage in Washington. The event is billed as a "public, nonpartisan 11-hour" reading that will involve up to 200 participants. They will be reading through Volume II of the report. Former special counsel Rober Mueller will testify before Congress about his report on July 17.
